As an External Manufacturing Workforce Development Trainer at GE Appliances, no two days look the same! In my role, I'm constantly collaborating both internally and externally to create opportunities for our future workforce. My background in education lends me a unique ability to bridge education with industry through a variety of initiatives and projects.
I love creating connections that make a real difference for students, employees, and the broader community. In 2025, I’ve led 22 volunteer opportunities that engaged more than 200 GE Appliances employees, ranging from mentoring youth to supporting nonprofits like Dress for Success and B.A.Y.A. I collaborate with KentuckianaWorks and Blueprint 502, and work closely with the Louisville Chamber of Commerce (GLI) as well as Southern Indiana partners (1SI and Metro Manufacturing Alliance) to expand workforce development initiatives.
I’ve also supported JAG and Junior Achievement programs, and helped coordinate the Kentucky Women in Manufacturing tour and company overview to highlight career opportunities and diversity in the field. Beyond program facilitation, I’ve participated in community leadership panels, including serving as a guest moderator with the JCPS Superintendent for GLI and, later this year, as a guest panelist for the Women in Metro Manufacturing Alliance’s End of Year Celebration.
I love connecting with schools to help students explore careers and develop real-world skills. In my role, I attend advisory meetings, collaborate with teachers and administrators, and facilitate a variety of interactive experiences designed to give students meaningful exposure to the workplace. Recent projects include hosting mock interviews, coordinating a multilingual panel to highlight diverse career paths, and organizing classroom and on-site visits where students engage directly with GE Appliances employees. I also coordinate guest speakers, ensure programming aligns with curriculum goals, and support hands-on projects that allow students to apply what they learn in real time.
Career fairs are one of my favorite ways to make connections and help students and early-career talent explore career opportunities. In 2025 alone, I supported 14 career fairs that reached more than 13,000 students, working directly with participants to help them understand the variety of roles available in manufacturing and get a hands-on sense of the skills and pathways needed to succeed.
Through the Metro Manufacturing Alliance’s “Manufacturing Week” career expo, I was able to expand our reach beyond Louisville into southern Indiana, connecting with students and educators in new regions and helping them see the impact and excitement of careers in manufacturing.
For JA Inspire, I served as the event planner and lead coordinator, managing eight interactive stations—including production, quality, engineering, industrial maintenance, factory service, and finance—and over 40 volunteers. I designed the flow and logistics of the event to maximize engagement, ensuring that students could rotate through each station efficiently while having meaningful, hands-on experiences.
On-site plant tours are lively, hands-on experiences that are both fun and highly rewarding. I start by managing an application process and rotation schedule that doubled capacity from 25 to 50, making sure every visitor has a high-quality experience. Pre-tour, I go to the school and facilitate a paper airplane assembly race to introduce participants to key manufacturing concepts like workflow, bottlenecks, and 5S in a playful way. During the tour, participants explore the plant floor, see the metrology lab, and try out tasks on our mock assembly line. Post-tour, students complete scenario challenges to help them apply what they observed to real life. I also track outcomes and measure ROI to continually refine the program. These experiences give students and educators a firsthand look at manufacturing, inspire curiosity about careers, and show the real-world impact of the work we do every day.
I love helping young adults get a real taste of the workplace and build skills that last. In SummerWorks, I managed the program from start to finish—leading interviews, onboarding, skill challenges, professional development activities, and offboarding—all in close collaboration with our new-hire ambassadors. Over two months, I worked with 25 young employees on the assembly line, guiding them through hands-on experiences, LinkedIn engagement, and mentorship opportunities. By the end, participants had completed more than 125 skill-building challenges, 30% achieved perfect attendance, and 15% transitioned to full-time roles. The program blends real-world experience, recognition, and structured learning to help our future workforce grow, gain confidence, and see the impact of their work firsthand.
As a former teacher, I love helping educators bring real-world experiences into their classrooms, and piloting the Teacher Externship was one of the most rewarding projects I’ve led. I designed and managed this 2.5-day program from start to finish—the first of its kind for the Academies of Louisville. Teachers toured our facilities, engaged in hands-on activities, and participated in interactive discussions, discovering ways to connect manufacturing processes to student projects.
I also created a 24-page event packet in collaboration with subject matter experts, filled with tour summaries and practical suggestions for applying what they saw in their classrooms. My work on this program was recognized with the HR “Shooting Star” award, reflecting the excitement and impact of the event.
With a teammate moving to a new department in fall of 2025, I stepped in to support our collegiate supply chain co-op program which includes over 50 young adults per rotation. I helped keep the program on track through facilitating large events, coordinating spring assignments, working closely with assignment leaders, and supporting various HR functions. I’ve also created opportunities for co-ops to grow their leadership and presentation skills through school outreach projects, career fairs, guiding on-site tours, and presenting at our Teacher Externship event. By smoothing the experience for both students and leaders, I help participants build skills, confidence, and connections that last beyond the program.
